Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. I have just moved back to New York this week, and have been kind of busy trying to get all my shit together here. Slowly, I'm getting it done.

Anyway, what I want to bring to every one's attention is the furry convention I went to. It took place August 7-9, but I only went on the 8th in the evening for a dance party. For those of you who don't know what a furry is, according to WikiFur (http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/WikiFur_Furry_Central), "The word furry has several meanings, dependent on the context in which it is used. Predominantly, it means "consisting of or resembling fur".[1] It also pertains to an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or mythological or imaginary creatures which possess human or superhuman capabilities. The plural form of furry in all its contexts is furs or furries; the subjects of furry interest are also known as furries." Just go check out the website, it's pretty amazing.

While at the amazing furry dance party on that Saturday night, I dance my little non-furry ass off. With the help of the amazing and wonderful Piper, Alejandro, and Val. The music was some awesome new spin-off of 90's techno and trance music. Not my usual cup of tea, but I danced harder then I have in a while. I think it may have been because of the atmosphere of the convention. There weren't that many people there, and not many people were dancing super hard (unless you include the kids doing Poi with glow stick, which at times was quite impressive). But I think the reason that I just went for my dance was because I knew, I just knew, that everyone there felt safe and comfortable. Which in turn made me feel safe and comfortable.

It was an enlightening experience because I realized that I enjoy spaces where people are allowed to be themselves. Which, I still think there are not, nearly, enough spaces for that. As a radical who has been in a lot of different radical spaces, I don't think that I have been to many that have made me feel as comfortable as FurCon.Many radical spaces have a huge feeling of pretension around them, although the may be a "safer space". Being at FurCon was definitely a safer space for folks to be at, but minus all our pretentious hang ups and bullshit. So, if you are a radical and reading this (or even if you aren't), let's drop the act and let people be exactly what they need to be as much as possible.

Here are some pictures below...I only took the first one. The convention was a non-erotic furry convention, but I did leave a really sexy furry picture at the bottom for everyone. Maybe I'll do another post on sexy furry time.
